A Christmas Carol

I've seen this about a hundred times. I watched it last night. And it was a really (insert less gay term here) tender experience. There was just some brilliant principles exhibited. I couldn't help but compare my life, especially at this time of season.

Charity. There's a specific part where the employee is sitting at dinner and he makes a toast to Scrooge. His wife gets angry. Scrooge after all has never done anything to merit any sort of gracious consideration. Yet, he means the words he says, with a full heart for the meager material possessions he had. Charity is not about what happens to us, how people treat us, or in what circumstances we find us. Charity is not just for the blessed, protected, rich, healthy, or happy in heart. In fact, Bob Cratchit's charity is all the more meaningful, deep and personal, because of his station. Yeah, i know it's just a story. But why not have more stories or movies or anything... with impressions like that. And ya know what... i believe in some form Cratchit's story has been told in real life. Ya see, to me, Scrooge's transformation was important and inspiring... but it's secondary. Scrooge ultimately becomes like Cratchit. Yes for forgiveness and change, yes for repentance. But Christmas is far more about love.

Do i get it? the whole thing... the whole reason for the season and how it should guide my life? And beyond Christmas... what am i doing in my everyday life if i'm not guided by love?

Ultimately, it's all about love. That's all that's important. Everything else comes when you love people.

I love love.
